Founder
Founding Attorney · Grey Ocean, PC
Grey Ocean was built on a simple insight: the best advocate for an executive is a lawyer who has sat in the boardroom on the other side.
Before founding Grey Ocean, Mike practiced at Mintz, an Am Law 75 firm, where he advised companies on executive hiring, compensation structuring, equity design, and separations. He has been in the board meetings where termination decisions are made, negotiated both sides of executive hiring and exits, and understands the internal calculus companies use when deciding what to offer, what to fight for, and where to concede.
That experience is not about reading documents—any attorney can read a document. It is about knowing how the company’s lawyers think when they draft a Cause definition, why they structured the equity acceleration the way they did, what the board actually discussed before approving the severance package, and where the real flexibility lives in a negotiation that appears fixed. When Mike represents an executive, he brings the institutional knowledge of someone who has been on the inside.
Grey Ocean is a California employment law boutique. The firm represents executives in severance negotiations, non-compete and non-solicitation matters, employment agreement review, and executive employment disputes. The firm also advises startups and companies on employment agreements, founder equity, and workforce compliance—maintaining the dual perspective that makes Grey Ocean’s executive practice distinctive.
